Tablee

Online, on iPhone and on iPad

The wedding seating chart maker that holds up when someone cancels

You enter your guests and your rules. Tablee builds the plan, shows you every trade-off it had to make, and when someone drops out ten days before, it rebuilds by moving as few people as possible.

The real problem

Any tool can place your guests. The test is what happens when one drops out.

Seating a hundred guests means holding a hundred constraints in your head at once: the families you keep apart, the uncle you move away, the children you group together, the colleagues who have not met anyone. Plenty of tools help you arrange them, and a few will fill the empty seats for you.

Then someone cancels ten days before. You remove the name, and the balance you spent three evenings building is gone. Tablee recalculates by moving as few people as possible, and anything you placed by hand stays exactly where you put it.

What actually changes

A seating engine that explains its choices and never takes back the control you took from it.

  • A cancellation does not start you over

Remove a guest, run it again. The seats you already have act as anchors, so the plan rebuilds around them instead of from scratch.

  • It shows you what it gave up

When two rules contradict each other you get a score out of 100 and the list of trade-offs, each with its reason ("table 5 was full") and a link to the table involved.

  • Weighted rules, not just auto-fill

Every rule carries a weight: if possible, important, or essential. Mark one strict and it is never broken, whatever else has to move.

  • What you pin stays pinned

Drag someone to another chair, pin them, run the seating again. No re-optimization will ever undo your choice.

  • Seat level, not table level

Every guest gets a specific chair. An empty place between two people stays empty, and the printed seat numbers match what you see on screen.

  • No account required

Seating, editing and exporting all run on your iPhone, offline, and iCloud sync is private and encrypted. A free, optional account brings your plans to your computer.

Three steps and the plan exists

As long as it takes to paste your list and state your rules, you have a full seating chart.

  1. Add your guests

One paste from your spreadsheet is enough. Columns (name, household, meal, allergens, reply) are recognized automatically.

  2. State your rules

Together, apart, side by side. Give each rule a weight, or mark it strict so it can never be broken.

  3. Run the seating

A score out of 100, the list of trade-offs, and every guest on a specific chair.

The app, screen by screen

A 108-guest wedding across 10 tables, solved at 100/100.

The four documents for the day

Generated as PDFs, ready to email to the caterer or hand to the print shop.

  • Caterer service sheet

Covers, meals and allergens counted table by table. Exactly what the chef asks for three days out.

  • Scaled room plan

To scale, landscape, followed by one page per table for the team setting up.

  • Alphabetical list

Every guest and their table, to find someone in three seconds.

  • Entrance poster

"Find your table", to stand at the door so nobody has to search.

One wedding, one payment

No subscription forced on a one-off event. Two ways to use Tablee, one account if you want it, and the price shown before you type a single name.

Nothing to install. A free account, and your plans follow you from one computer to another, all the way to the iPhone app. You only pay if the event goes beyond five tables, or if you run several.

In the iPhone and iPad app

The same app, on the App Store. It works offline and without an account, and syncs through your private iCloud; signed in to your Tablee account, it also picks up your web plans. Prices are the ones the App Store shows for your country.

The complete app, downloaded from the App Store.

    • One event, up to 5 tables
    • Every seating feature
    • Exports carry a watermark

    yearly subscription

For caterers, venues and wedding planners running one event after another.

    • Cancel any time

A purchase counts on both sides. With the same Tablee account, an event unlocked or a Pro subscription taken in the iPhone app also counts in the web app, and the other way round. A purchase made in the app before you sign in joins your account when you do.

Web app prices are in euros, tax included, and the sale is concluded with Creem, our official reseller, which collects payment and issues the invoice. In the app, in-app purchases are sold by Apple, prices vary by country and the figure shown by the App Store is the one that applies; the Pro subscription is cancelled in your Apple account settings.

Privacy

Without an account, your guest list never leaves your device

No account required. Seating, editing and exporting all run on your iPhone or iPad, with no connection needed.

If you use iCloud, events kept "On this iPhone" sync between your own devices, in your private space and encrypted, allergens and mobility notes included. We cannot read any of it. No ads, no trackers.

A free, optional Tablee account stores its events on our servers, in Europe, to give them back to you on your computer, in the web app, and keep them in sync. Allergens and reduced mobility only go there with your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time. Nothing there is sold or exploited, and the account can be deleted from the app as well as from the website.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask us most before getting started.

Is there a free app that can create a wedding seating chart?

Several, and some are more generous than Tablee. wedding.studio runs free in your browser with no guest limit and no account, and Zola and WeddingWire include a seating tool with their free planners. Tablee is free for one event up to 5 tables, roughly 50 guests, with the full seating engine. Choose on what the tool does after the first plan, not on the free tier alone.

How can I create my own seating chart for my wedding?

Collect your final replies first, then decide how many tables you need and what shape they are, and only then place people. Doing it in that order matters: drawing the room before you know who is coming means redoing the whole thing. Write your constraints down before you place the first name.

What is the easiest way to make a wedding seating chart?

Paste your guest list from a spreadsheet rather than typing it, state the handful of rules that really matter, and let the tool do the first pass. Then fix the few placements you disagree with by hand. Starting from a generated plan is far faster than starting from an empty room.

Who makes wedding seating charts?

Two different things share that name. The printed sign guests read at the door comes from Etsy sellers, Minted or Zazzle, or your stationer. Deciding who actually sits where is a planning job, and that is what an app like Tablee does. You will probably want both.

Does Tablee work on Android or in a browser?

In a browser, yes. The Tablee web app runs the same seating engine on Windows, Mac and Android, free for one event up to 5 tables with a free account, then 9.99 € once to unlock an event, or 84.99 € a year with Pro to run several. With the same account, your plans and purchases follow you between the web app and the iPhone app. There is no native Android app: the iPhone and iPad app is the only native one, and it is the only one that works offline.

Does buying in the web app also unlock the iPhone app?

Yes, with the same Tablee account, and both ways. Signed in on both sides, an event unlocked or a Pro subscription paid for in the web app also counts in the iPhone app, and an in-app purchase also counts in the web app. A purchase made in the app before you sign in joins your account when you do. Without an account, it stays tied to your Apple Account.

Do I need an account?

Not for the iPhone and iPad app: it works entirely without one, and syncing goes through your private iCloud, which we cannot access. A free, optional account brings your events to your computer, in the web app, and keeps them in sync: you sign in with Apple, with a code sent by email, or by scanning the QR code the computer shows. The web app does need an account, a free one, so your plans follow you from one computer to another.

Does it work without an internet connection?

Yes, completely. Seating, plan editing and PDF generation all work offline, which helps in a reception hall with poor reception. With an account, edits made offline are sent on their own when the network is back.

How do I import my guest list?

Paste it straight from a spreadsheet, import an Excel, CSV or PDF file, or pick from your iOS contacts. The columns (name, household, table, meal, allergens, reply) are recognized automatically in the four languages of the app.

Can I decide where someone sits myself?

Yes. Press and hold a guest and drag them onto another chair: the target seat lights up, its occupant steps aside, and the two swap seats. Then pin the guest, and no re-optimization will move them, even after a cancellation.

What happens if two rules contradict each other?

Tablee applies the one with the heavier weight, then lists the other among the compromises, with its reason and a link to the table concerned. A rule marked strict is never broken, whatever happens.

Can I print the seating chart?

Yes. Tablee generates four PDFs: the caterer service sheet, the scaled room plan followed by one page per table, the alphabetical guest list, and the "Find your table" entrance poster.
